Cast-in connections // application
Application of HRC 720 cast-in connection
The complete connection consists of two parts:
- HRC 720 sleeve part: sleeve with internal threads, welded to a reinforcement bar of any length, which may be straight or bent
- externally threaded part: threaded rod of any length and with desired property
HRC 720 cast-in connection is used as follows:
- The HRC 720 sleeve part is installed even with the surface of the foundation and cast in. The opening in the sleeve is closed with a plastic cap to prevent cement lime or dirt from entering into the sleeve. There is no protruding steel which can be damaged or could present a danger. The reinforcing steel bar, connected to the sleeve, can be tailor-made to be incorporated into the reinforcement of the concrete structure.
- The externally threaded part is screwed into the sleeve. For applications in aggressive environment stainless steel sleeve parts can be used. The material of the threaded rod must match the sleeve material.
- Under combined tension- and shear load the high-strength material of the bolt will guarantee the necessary capacity. Maximum allowable tension load is limited by the capacity of the sleeve part (utilisation of property class 8.8), but shear load is restricted by the concrete pressure against the sleeve. The outer diameter of the sleeve gives the connection better transversal contact against the concrete and therefore a higher shear capacity compared to cast-in threaded rods. Higher capacity in the threaded rod can therefore be used to transmit large shear forces into the concrete
- The replaceable threaded rod makes it possible to change damaged parts in an easy way and at the same time to keep a sound concrete structure.
